2023 Professional of the Year

ICSHRM is proud to announce that Michelle McInnis, Senior Vice President at Southwest Louisiana Economic Development Alliance, has been awarded the esteemed title of ICSHRM Professional of the Year for 2023! Her dedication to workforce development and her tireless efforts in supporting our community has earned her this well-deserved recognition.

Michelle has been an integral part of the SWLA Economic Development Alliance for the past 8 years, dedicating her efforts to workforce development in the region. Her work involves convening local businesses and industry leaders with training providers to identify needs, gaps, and opportunities in workforce development. This collaboration approach has led to the implementation of new training programs in the area, addressing critical skill shortages and fostering economic growth.

Beyond her responsibilities at the Alliance, Michelle McInnis has been actively involved in the education and development of HR professionals and future leaders in the field. She has consistently sought opportunities to contribute to the community’s workforce development initiatives, including hosting events such as the Intern Soiree, Job Fairs, and Mock Interview sessions. Additionally, she has been an active participant in programs like Leadership Southwest Louisiana, enriching the professional landscape of the region.

Michelle’s commitment to community service extends beyond her professional endeavors. She generously volunteers her time and expertise as a board member for various organizations, including the Children’s Museum of SWLA, the Safe Sleep Task Force, ICSHRM Board, Community Chest of Moss Bluff, Moss Bluff Civic Club, Calcasieu Parish Library Board of Control, and the national Association of Leadership Programs. Through her involvement in these roles, she actively contributes to the betterment of the community and the advancement of its residents.
