Internship Program at McNeese State University

Dr. Kristin C. Scott will speak about the internship program at McNeese State University.  Her focus will be on benefits for organizations and students, student and employer eligibility, the process of hiring an intern, and the best time to recruit for your organizational needs.  Organizations that have recently had an HR intern will give some insights into their experiences.

Dr. Scott joined the College of Business faculty at McNeese State University in August 2018 as an Assistant Professor of Management.  She is a member of the Management, Marketing & Business Administration Department and specializes in Human Resource Management (HRM).

Dr. Scott received her Ph.D. in Human Resource Development from The University of Texas at Tyler in 2018. At McNeese, Dr. Scott teaches a wide variety of HRM courses.  Prior to that, she worked extensively in academe with over 20 years experience in teaching business and technology courses at secondary and post-secondary levels.

Dr. Scott reactivated, and serves as the faculty advisor for, McNeese's Student Chapter of the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM).  She redesigned the HRM curriculum to align with SHRM recommended competencies, built student engagement, and advanced the College of Business presence in the community.  Dr. Scott is a member of the Board of the Imperial Calcasieu Society of Human Resource Management (ICSHRM).  Dr. Scott also serves as a Baldrige Examiner for the Quality Texas Foundation.

Dr. Scott's research interests include work-life balance, job embeddedness and turnover, return-on-investment in training and development, performance management, and faculty development.
